If you’re visiting Nagoya and want to truly experience Japanese history, Nagoya Castle is an absolute must. This majestic structure, originally built in the 17th century, is one of the most iconic castles in Japan — and it’s only a short ride from Nagoya Station.
📜 A Glimpse into the Past
Nagoya Castle was constructed in 1612 by Tokugawa Ieyasu, a powerful shogun who helped unify Japan. While much of the original structure was lost during World War II, the keep has been beautifully reconstructed, and the Hommaru Palace has been restored using traditional craftsmanship. Inside, you’ll find incredible gold leaf walls, fusuma paintings, and exhibits about the samurai era.
